Profile/Prophile
My name is Chess, 25 years old. I was born in Danville, Va, raised in Old Bidge, Nj and currently live in Las Vegas, NV. started my music by ripping off a record shop in Manmouth Mall in New Jersey with the singles Crews Pop by Da Youngstas, Cheif Roc ker by Lords of the Underground, and Wu Tang Clan (Protect your neck). I Moved from the streets of New Jersey at the age of 14 to Las Vegas where I went to high school at Clark High. I didn't pursue the idea of being really active in music until i hooked up with my friend named Roy, whom I met in the 1st year of high school, during the sophomore yeat. I bought my First peice of equipment, the geneva mixer sold at radio shack. Around the same time iI came across a deal in the nifty nickle for "2 technics 1200's and a mixer for 300$" After that it was mostly down hill from there. After being taught the basics of mixing by a combonation of a freind teaching (Murray Mc Murray aka Dj Presto One) and djing parties for 20$ a pop knowing i couldn't mix for shit forcing myself to get better to clear my rep i then started to want to get into the actual beat making process. I started out with a roland ms 1 and an alesis sr 16 witch taught me how to sample and make drum beats. I hooked up with a kid called Rob aka Tribal D who emceed. At the time we had very little concept on how to make a song followed no formula and got hated on by several crews and being that no one round our way made songs either so it was a little hard to come up. Later on the three of us got together with Sean aka S-Groove who was in to house music but interested in djing. Later on Sean showed interest in making hip hop drum patterns and i got more in to sampling, and with Rob in the picture it was clear that we could make songs now with a certified drummer with a cheesey sr-16 obsure sample from me and Rob on te vocals. This led us into gettin our 1st 4 track. Hell the 4 track pissed all of us off that we stopped recording and kept up the beats learning as we went along. At 18 i got tired of doing the same simple types of beats with these simple toys and wanted to advance into something a little more challenging. So bounced two check for an Asr-x at $1600 (I figured I'll pay it off later, whitch i did) and quickly learn how to creat drum kits and layer samples one over another. However with the 4 track from hell I still hadn't recorded anything of quality. Heh the Asr x was dope but i wanted somethin with a more solid sequencer so i went ahead and put an mpc2000 on credit and had both manchines at my disposal one for sampling (the asr x) and one for drums and sequening (the mpc2000). From time to time i'd make a beat here dj a party there etc not serios about a damn thing. in 98 i moved in with Sean in hopes of creative space cause at home my room was the size of a matchbox. We built a make shift studio in the living room built around the 2 manchines and my dj rig. From then we recorded until now, each step of the way learning and building up the studio. For the rest of this story.....well you'll see and hear

ok ok so my story kinda bounces around alot....
i needed to do this quickly...in the near future i will add
music from the past and present to go along with the story
and i'll write it a little better
